                          One of the causes of pain in ear region can be TMJ pain


  • WHAT IS TMJ ? Temporomandibular  joint is a joint located around the ear region which is similar to any other joint in the body. It connects the lower jaw to the skull. It helps in movements of lower jaw like opening, closing, forward and backward movements.
  • CAUSES OF TMJ PAIN:
  1. Long term grinding of teeth or clenching of jaw.

  2. Improperly aligned teeth leading to shift of lower jaw while biting
  3. Stress and anxiety
  4. Calcium and magnesium deficiency
  5. Some kinds of arthritis like osteoarthritis
  6. Jaw injury
  • SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF TMJ PAIN:
  1. Pain in and around ear region, jaw ,face and mouth. one can also experience headache.
  2. Clicking sound in ear region while opening and closing mouth.
  3. Locking of joint which makes it difficult to open or close jaw.
  4. Difficulty in chewing
  5. Pain in neck or shoulder region of same side.
  6. Stiffness in the muscles of jaw.
  7. Tinnitus(ringing in ear)
