Peridontitis  is the advanced stage of gum disease.When more  plaque/tartar gets accumulated inside gums,it will be swalloen  and reddish.Then  leads to  gingivitis ,the early stage of gum disease. Untreated gingivitis cases ends up in periodontitis. In periodontitis,the gums will become weak, as there is more debris around them.Once the gums get weakend,there will be space between gums and teeth,we call this gap as POCKETS.
