Should I be worried if I have pain even after RCT?
To begin with, Root canal treatment is generally performed by dentists' if your cavities extend and affect till the tooth pulp . This basically means, we need to remove the infected pulp tissue and replace it with a 3 dimensional filling.
Now why does the pain still persists?
In most of the cases, patients tend to have a mild dull aching pain even after RCT. This,
- may be your infection is still in the healing stage (it takes 3 months for a tooth end lesion to heal completely)
- may be your root canal treated tooth is quite high and you feel gnawing pain.
- tooth ache after RCT can be even due to post operative sensitivity
- if the root canal treated tooth pains after crown placement , it is mostly because the crown may feel high and normally visiting your dentist might ensure the relieving of pressure on it.
in any case , have a regular follow up to your dentist and always a routine diagnostic x ray is necessary to formulate the next process.
