While you are pregnant, it is important to take care and maintain your oral hygiene. Many hormonal changed are caused due to pregnancy which can develop risk of gum disease, which can affect the health of your developing foetus. 

Before you get pregnant, always have a prior dental check up. In that way, you can maintain your oral hygiene. 

Important Points to remember:

1. If you are pregnant, tell your dentist that you are pregnant so that he can plan your treatment accordingly.

2.Any urgent dental treatment can be done at the pregnancy with proper care.

3. Other elective dental procedures can be postponed after your delivery.

4. If your are taking any medicine, tell your dentist the name of the drugs . Your dentist may alter your treatment plan .

5. Dental X rays can be taken with very much caution in order to safe your baby, like shielding your abdomen and thyroid.

6. Particularly pay more attention to the changes in your pregnancy. If there is any, bleeding, swelling and tenderness in your gums, talk to your dentist about your issue and get it done.

7. Maintain good oral health hygiene measures like, brushing and flossing regularly to avoid oral health issues.

8. Avoid sugary foods. During pregnancy , it is so common to have food craving. Being responsible mother, eat which is right for you and for your baby.

9. Eat healthy diet. Your child's first teeth will erupt at your first trimester. healthy diet like milk and milk products are good source of minerals which are good for the development of teeth, gums and bone of your baby.
