MOUTH ULCER AND ITS TREATMENT
WHAT IS MOUTH ULCER ?
Mouth ulcers are normally small painful lesions that develops in the mouth or at the base of the gums.they can make eating,drinking and talking uncomfortable.women,adolescents and people with family istory of mouth ulcers are more likely to develope tese ulcers.they are also known as aptous ulcer.
CAUSES:
Accidentally biting your cheek or lip lead to an ulcer .
Improper diet can lead to ulcers.
abits like cheek biting or lip biting causes ulcers.
Improperly fitting dentures.
Stress or anxiety causes ulcers.
Sharp edge of a tooth or restoration causes ulcer .
hormonal changes in some women can cause ulcers.
Some diseases like herpes etc
TREATMENT
Drink plenty of water ,keep yourself ydrated at all times.tis will decrease te episode of ulceration to a great extent.
Avoid hot and spicy food to not irritate your ulcer .spicy food causes buring sensation and is very uncomfortable while eating.
Apply local anesthetic gels on the ulcer 15 mins before eating your food, to be able to have your food in peace.the local anestetic numbs the area of the ulcer which decreases the buring sensation to a great extent.this makes eating more comfortable.tis is palliative treatment.
Apply local antiseptic gel to avoid infection.hte antibiotic content in these gels helps in locally reduces the chances of infection to ulcer.
Do warm saline gargles two to three times daily for faster recovery.tese gargles are a omemade remedy to reduce inflammation in and around the ulcer.
The ulcers will take maximum seven days toeal. if they are troubling you for more then two weeks contact your dentist.
